The founder of Udyam Academy, Ramkrishna*  has travelled 17 states and noticed that rural entrepreneurs were facing challenges because of poor planning and a lack of proper mentoring, training and resources. He also observed a strong willingness among rural entrepreneurs to learn and try new solutions in order to improve the development of their ventures.

During his 7 foot-walking journey “शोध यात्रा (Shodh Yatra-5 Sristi Shodh Yatra, 2 Pagdandi Shodh Yatra), he reflected on life and purpose. He wanted to take an active role in the development of rural India. He published “Rural Call”, a blog compiling stories of rural entrepreneurs. He learned invaluable lessons from this early venture.

The 5 lessons learned are: 

(1) to have a coach or mentor who could support you during the development phase of your venture; 

(2) to have a clear purpose and ambition; 

(3) to identify potential obstacles and risks with a clear business model; 

(4) to believe in yourself and your idea; and 

(5) to learn from your mistakes as it will improve the decision-making process for any future projects.
